Last weekend at the Fair place Gudovac, a professional training of Gidran horse breeders was held, a professional training in the assessment of the horse’s appearance. The leaders of the professional training were prof.dr.sc. Ante Ivanković and Assoc.Prof.Dr.Sc. Jelena Ramljak from the Department of Special Animal Husbandry of the Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb with associates / lecturers prof.dr.sc. Mirjana Baban from the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences Osijek and Assoc. Nikica Prvanović – Babić from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Clinic for Obstetrics and Reproduction, Zagreb.
The purpose of the professional training was to train breeders of the Croatian Association of Gidran horse breeders to work in the commissions for the assessment of stallions, mares and foals in accordance with the breeding program of Gidran horse breeds in the Republic of Croatia (UPGPK, 2019).
The training lasted two days and was divided into two blocks. The first block consisted of lectures, while the second block contained a demonstration of the theoretical part of the lecture on horses.
The lectures included two thematic units: knowledge of the anatomical and physiological features of horse construction and assessment of the exterior of the gidran breed of horses with the aim of breeding and selection work.
During the practical part of the class, an interactive workshop was organized where the participants were given the opportunity to rate horses together with the lecturers, comment on the grades and give their opinion.
